As you come up from Patterdale, Braesteads Farm is nestled into the hill side on the right of the Grisedale valley ('valley of the pig' in Old Norse).
Hill walker's paradise!
Waking up surrounded by the Helvellyn mountain range, endless walks/climbs for all abilities without having to drive anywhere! If your heading to the northern fells to tick off Skiddaw or maybe Blencathra, its just a 25 minute drive away. |
Patterdale, Glenridding and Ullswater
The villages of Patterdale and Glenridding surround the southern shore of Ullswater. With plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants, garage and a doctor's surgery. There are also plenty of opportunities to explore Ullswater, whether it's hiring a boat, a ride to Pooley Bridge or Howtown on the Ullswater Steamer. The National Trust's Aira Force is just one mile from Glenridding which is always worth a visit. |
Further a field
Grasmere home of William Wordsworth and Gingerbread is about 40 minutes drive away. If you are looking for some retail therapy and lovely coffee shops Keswick and Ambleside are perfect places to go, both about 30 minutes away. |
